Postgraduate Programs
Higher Degree Research
The Department offers supervision in the research degrees of Master of Philosophy (MPhil) and PhD. Areas of research may be linked to the Department's major research areas, but we are happy to consider proposals for other topics.
Candidates proceed primarily by thesis, which should not exceed 50,000 words for MPhil or 100,000 words for PhD. Candidates are also required to complete the commencement program in their first year of enrolment. A presentation of a work-in-progress session is required of candidates at this time.
For appropriately qualified candidates, a project containing up to 50% creative work may be undertaken.
Coursework Programs
The Department offers three Masters of Arts and Postgraduate Certificate programs in the areas of Literature, Creative Writing and Children's Literature. Commonwealth Supported Places are available for these programs
